Making a Ketchup from fresh Roma tomatoes

To prepare your own ketchup, you will need the following ingredients:

- Roma tomatoes (about 2 pounds)

- One onion, diced

- ¾ cup of apple cider vinegar

- ¾ cup of brown sugar

- A pinch of cinnamon

- Two cloves

- A teaspoon of celery salt

- Two bay leaves

Follow these steps to make the ketchup:

1. Wash and chop the tomatoes and place them in a large pot.

2. Add the onion, vinegar, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, celery salt and bay leaves to the pot and bring to a boil.

3. Reduce the heat and simmer for about two hours, stirring occasionally.

4. Remove the bay leaves and cloves and transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.

5. Return the pureed ketchup to the pot and cook over low heat until it reaches your desired thickness.

6. Enjoy your homemade ketchup with your favorite dishes or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

My First Instagram Reels Play Bonus

I started my Instagram creator account last August of 2022. I tried to post at least two videos. Last December I got invited in the reels play bonus. At that time, I only have maybe less than 3000 followers but I have several videos that got more than 100k views so I guess that is why they invited me, lol not really sure.

I did the necessary information like where is the payout it’s going to be so on and so forth. After that, the program says I need to make 5 videos, if I uploaded a video, I will get 10$ each. I got confused because I thought it will give me something on the views too but it is only for 5 videos and the more confusing one is the payout is 100$ that means I cannot payout the 50$ they say if you didn’t make a 100$ it will rollover.

Then came January, I said I will going to wait and see what happens, on the 21st I have a notification that the payment is processing, on the 24th it says I have been paid by Facebook so I look at my bank account and I am happy that the payment is there.

Yes, I am happy my first online social media payout.

My Side Hustle

Living in the US is expensive. You have to pay a lot of expenses like insurances but anyway I am happy that I am here because it is the land of the free, you can do whatever you want and whoever you want.

I have been doing some side hustle since 2018 and these are my side hustle.

 1. Mystery box -  It started when I saw a video of a girl in YouTube buying a pallet box in a liquidation, well you have to bid for the box and if you win you can get this mystery boxes. Liquidation is where those big companies like Amazon put their returns or overstock to re-sell it and make it as mystery box. So what I did I went to the website and bid for a box that I like. You can look for the manifest of the box so you have an idea what you can get. The next thing I did is sign up to all online platforms that you can sell those products.

pros: it is fun to sell the products

cons: I don't know what I am doing and what I am selling. I have a Damascus knife and a scuba watch which I don't know what it is. I just break even on the mystery box.

2. Thrift stuff - it is almost the same time when I started doing the mystery box. I love clothes so I said it is inline on what I know. I actually still doing it and once in while I have a sell. The platform that I am with is you need to be active by sharing or by uploading a new product to sell.

pros: I know how to sell clothes.

cons: I still have the inventory.

3. Print on demand - of course I saw this in YouTube again. She is making a design and upload it to the website. The company itself will do all the work. Their the one who will ship and do the inventory for you. What you are just gonna do is just design the product and get a percentage of the sell.

pros: it is just easy to make or design a product. The payout is fast once the customer buy something it will go directly to your account.

cons: it is slow. I even connected my Etsy account thinking that it has a better algorithm but nobody is buying. (I don't think that my design is bad lol)

4. Receipts - you know that receipts that you just throw there is an app that gives you gift cards just by uploading the receipts. What you have to do is take a picture of the receipts and it will give you points for uploading it, in return you can chose a gift card that you like. The other app that I am using is sorta like coupon, you have to check the product that you think you will buy and you get a cash back out of it. The cash back you can exchange it to gift card or send it directly to your bank account.

pros: it is just easy, upload a receipt and then get a cash back.

cons: one of the app that I am using is crashing I like it but it takes time to load.

Facebook Play Bonus

I am writing this because I feel like I did something wrong. I knew it something is not right.

So whenever I make a reels in Instagram I just download the reels and put it on my Facebook page and YouTube account. When I upload it in Facebook and YouTube I've notice that it has a watermarked from Instagram.

Last night, I have been invited in Facebook Play bonus (different from Instagram Play bonus). As I was applying, well I change my mind so I cancel the application. When I stop it I have a notification that I wasn't approve because of violation - unoriginal content. I was like a little confused because my videos are my own yes I am using audio from Instagram but the videos are original.

So I suspected that it is because of the re-uploaded videos from Instagram that has a watermark. Now I learn my lesson so I will upload videos that has no watermark and probably will also make some original video blog.

Instagram Reels Play Bonus

I have been in Instagram for quite a while but I have never made a creator's account. One day I was thinking to myself why am I not doing it, I have been posting videos and photos for free on my Facebook account on what I do with my garden why making something out of it. So August of last year (2022), I look on how to make a creators account and of course you can look for tutorial how to do it in YouTube.

Fast forward, my views are getting good in Instagram and I am getting some followers too then last December I've got an invitation that I can be a part of the Instagram Reels Play Bonus.

I am very elated and so I right away set up my information. Yes I was very excited and scared that if I don't do it the invitation will be gone the next day. So even though it is in the middle of the night I set up my account.

It say's what I need to do is just make 5 videos and for that video I will earn 10$ per post so it is 50$ all in all. The only problem is you really need to think what video is gonna be hit to your audience. You have to predict which will gonna be viral. 50 dollars is there but the payout is 100$ and I am not sure if I will hit it.

So for now I am waiting wish me luck!!!!

To be continued....

A THAI CHILI SAUCE

 A Thai Chili sauce

Garden season is almost over what a way to start the winter with the hot Thai Chili sauce. Because my Thai Chili plants comes back every year, I have a over 7 Thai Chili plant that we save from the pot that it grows to.

We look for some recipe of the Thai Chili. We found the easier one in the internet. The ingredients are easy to find but of course we adjust it a little bit because of the last-minute decision of not going to the grocery store. I have to use the ingredients that we have in the kitchen. The recipe want's a red Thai Chilis but I have some green ones too so I put some green ones also.

The ingredients are:

1.5 oz of Thai Chili

½ Onion

4 gloves of garlic

3 tbsp of coconut oil

1 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt

1 tbsp of brown sugar

¼ cup of vinegar

¼ cup of water

I put all together the ingredients in the food processor minus the water. After I am already satisfied of the grind ingredients, I put it in a small pot and boil it in a low heat for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes I cover the pot and boil it still in a low heat in 5 minutes. Then I put the water after 5 minutes and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.

I use a small canning jar for the Thai Chili sauce. After it gets cold I put in the refrigerator to store it.

Verdict: It taste good especially we like hot sauce/salsa. It has a sweet taste also in it. Credit to pickleplum.com for the inspiration. She said it would last for a month or 6 months if you put it in an air tight glass jar but I don't think it will last a month to us.
